A zip is quicker to sew and quicker to break. A button can be sewn back on at the kitchen table, so every duvet cover we make closes at the foot with a row of them.
None on the pillow
Pillowcases close with an envelope flap instead, a deep fold the pillow tucks into. There is nothing under your cheek and nothing to come undone.
The buttons are the same as on the pyjamas. A spare is sewn inside the hem.
