One cut, in a handful of cloths

Ostra is a workshop in Porto with two people in it. We choose a handful of cloths a season, then cut them, sew them and ship them from the same building.
Each cloth runs across pyjamas, bed linen and towels, so a set and a duvet cover can match exactly. We would rather make the next cloth well than add another cut.
The cotton comes from mills within a day’s drive: poplin and percale from Guimarães, terry from Barcelos. No blends we can’t repair, no finishes we can’t explain.
Cotton
Long-staple cotton, woven and washed before it is cut. Nothing blended in.

People cutting and sewing
Every pair of pyjamas passes through the same two pairs of hands.

Workshop, in Porto
Cloth arrives, garments leave. The whole label fits in one room.
03
How we work
01
We cut once
Every pattern is graded in the workshop and cut by hand, eight layers at a time. The offcuts go into the swatch sets.
02
One cut for everyone
Every set is cut the same way, oversized and unisex, from XS to XL. The cloth changes each season, the cut does not.
03
We mend what we make
Send any Ostra piece back, at any age, and we repair it. Seams, buttons and hems are free, larger work is charged at cost.

That is the whole operation. No outlet, no second line.
